Recorded by Greg Williamson in various basements on a Tascam cassette eight-track. After hearing what he did for Jeremy Enigk on Return of the Frog Queen, I asked him to spin some of that magic on American Gothic. So, we wound up smoking A LOT of pot and getting weird. Part of me wishes this album were a bit more sonically sound, but I do love the intimate, raw nature it captured. The album art posted here is not from the original packaging. That was a whole other production, and if you happen to have a copy of it, I'd like to buy it back from you! I don't have a copy, and I think it came out nicely.

It was great fun to collect the field recordings that were used on this album. American Gothic Part 3 captures a most wonderful night for me and was the beginning of a special love affair with a lifelong friend. Everyone has a sweet spot from their youth, this is the soundtrack to mine.
