Joseph Gently (He/They) is an Aotearoa-born, Tucson-based published writer of poetry, prose and songs. He weaves his experience as a creature of duality into every creative endeavor, drawing on his mixed-race heritage, his transmasculinity, and his half-hearted spiritual channellings as inspiration. In his day-to-day life, Joseph can be found trying new recipes with limited ingredients and hand-me-down kitchenware. He loves listening to science fiction audiobooks, singing under the new moon, and snuggling with a large, belligerent cat named Tank.

Sacred Beast is an EP that explores the liminal landscapes of the beast within. Each song expresses a sacred experience of “beastliness” – beginning with the pain of gender transition in Fertile Ground and ending with the astral traveler begging for a safe landing in Deep Space Prayer (Where The Light Gets In). Whether the perspective is mythical, alien, or just plain human, each song is an offering to the outsider in us all: the one from whom we turn our faces, but who unconsciously drives our every decision.
